Hi everyone,

I have a quick question that I couldn’t find in the community.
In our company we used the Jira Server V3 extension, and now are planning to switch to the Jira Server V4 extension.

Will we lose our current Jira configuration during the process ? How do we clean the old Jira version on Pager and Jira ? Currently we installed the two versions but only the old interface is accessible.

Hi @Klomlk,

I did some digging on how to to upgrade from the Jira Server V3 extension to V4. Here are my notes on it:

  • You won’t lose your current PagerDuty-to-Jira configuration just by installing V4, but you will need to manually reconfigure the integration in V4. I recommend documenting your current V3 settings before uninstalling or disabling it, so you can replicate them in V4.
  • To clean up the old version:
    • In PagerDuty, delete the old Jira Server V3 extension from your service’s Extensions tab.
    • In Jira, go to Manage Apps and uninstall or disable the PagerDuty V3 app.
    • Remove any old webhooks or custom fields created by V3 if they’re no longer needed.
  • If only the old interface is accessible: Make sure you’ve fully removed or disabled the V3 extension in both PagerDuty and Jira, then enable and configure the V4 extension. Only one version can be active for a given project at a time.

Btw, super important: make sure to back up your configurations before making changes, and check out the PagerDuty Jira Server Integration Guide and the PagerDuty Jira Server Troubleshooting guide for step-by-step instructions.

Let me know if this solution works, and have a nice day!
