Hi folks, if a Responder who was previously deemed not needed for an Active Incident is now needed to be re-engaged, how do you accomplish this?
Hi
If you need to re-engage a responder who was previously removed or marked as not needed for an active incident, you can simply add them back to the incident using the Add Responders feature. Here’s how:
- Open the incident in PagerDuty.
- Click the Add Responders button.
- Search for and select the user(s) or escalation policy you want to re-engage.
- (Optional) Add a message to provide context for why you’re re-engaging them.
- Click Save—this will send them a new notification and bring them back into the incident response.
There’s no restriction on re-adding someone who was previously removed—they’ll get a fresh notification and can jump back in to help.
If you find yourself doing this often, you might want to look into using Incident Workflows, which let you predefine groups of responders and notify them all at once with a single click.

Please let me know if this helps, and have a nice day!
