Announcing Business Services for Teams

Business Services Updates: APIs, Inline Edit, and Team Permissions, oh my!

Do you want to share critical information about how your services contribute to the business? Have you been hoping to use PagerDuty’s Business Response capabilities, like the Status Dashboard, but you haven’t gotten around to it?

We are here to help! PagerDuty introduced the idea of Business Services to help people organize their services into logical and meaningful units that resonated with stakeholders in the business, to folks on other teams, and to themselves as they contribute to a larger effort. These business services could then display high priority incidents on the Status Dashboard.

Now we’re excited to announce that we have iterated and improved upon Business Services with some often-requested enhancements.

What’s New?

Business Services for Everyone: Team managers may now define business services that are specific to their team; you no longer have to be a Global Admin or Account Owner to define a business service. Any existing business services that have been defined by Global Admins will still be global, and Global Admins can continue to create and edit global business services. Any business service without a team specified will be global by default.

Secure and Private Business Services: If your account has advanced permissions, you may now create private business services that will only be viewable to folks explicitly authorized by your team organization.

Easy Inline Edit: We know that sometimes it takes a few rounds of editing to get the description of a business service just right. Instead of editing every part of a business service at once, you can just edit the pieces you need.

Automate the Setup: Don’t like clicking around a UI? No problem. We released the fully documented RESTful API, get started today!
